「自然の中に共生する現代建築」をテーマにデザイン。
ミニマルな空間構成と、タイニーハウスの概念を再構築し、
自然と調和しながらも、丁寧で静かな佇まいを演出。
構造材・化粧材には多摩産材を使用し、左官材には、敷地内の小川で採取した石を採用。
地元の大工や左官職人の精緻な手作業により、細部にわたるディテールが空間に温もりと深みを与え、
唯一無二の魅力を生み出している。
地域の素材、土地の個性、そして職人の手仕事。
それらをひとつひとつ、建築に織り込んで反映。
本プロジェクトの設計にあたっては、東京を拠点に活動する私たちのスタジオが、東京の森への関心と責任を持ちながら、多摩地域の森林資源の循環を支える建築の在り方に真摯に向き合いました。 設計から施工に至るまで、地域の職人や資源と綿密に連携し、共に取り組むことで、環境への配慮と文化的継承を両立させることを目指しました。

“Tiny House” – A Forest Retreat in Shizenjin Mura
Designed with the theme of “Contemporary Architecture in Harmony with Nature.”
Our design reinterprets the concept of the tiny house, featuring a minimalist spatial layout that exists in harmony with the surrounding nature, creating an unassuming and tranquil solace in the trees.
Each Tiny House is constructed entirely of locally-sourced lumber from the Tama region, with some interior walls finished in a custom clay formula that includes small stones and earth from the surrounding mountains.
Every detail, meticulously crafted by local carpenters and plaster artisans, imbues the space with warmth and depth, creating a unique charm.
Locally-sourced materials, the distinctive character of the land, and the craftsmanship of skilled Japanese artisans—each of these elements is thoughtfully woven into the architecture, reflecting the essence of its surroundings.
For this project, our studio, based in Tokyo, approached the design with a deep sense of respect and responsibility for the forests of Tokyo and chose to focus on exploring how architecture can support the sustainable use of forest resources in the Tama region. From design to construction, we worked closely with local artisans and incorporated raw materials of the region, striving to create an integrated approach to balancing environmental care and the preservation of cultural heritage.
